Last night I had a long dream about sailing my Laser in the Monhegan Island race, an offshpore, overnight race. Most of the dream was taken up with preparation. I had to find a place to park the black VW beetle (original) that was my ride.
I had to repair a couple of tears in the sail near the tack. I found some sail repair tape at the store at Handy Boat, which was almost entirely stocked with medical supplies. The shelves were so close together and so fully stocked that I found it impossible to walk through the aisles without knockin things off shelves. They first told me the little bits of tape they gave me were $99.95, but when I questioned that they changed the price to $9.95.
I also decided I should take some food and drink, but time was growing short so I decided to take a couple of bottles of water from a vending machine on the grass verge near the waterfront.
Finally, we were sailing. There was another person sailing a Laser, but I was confident I could beat him. We were sailing a short version of the course - out Hussey Sound and then to Freeport. Somehow I wound up travelling through snow covered woods and fields near Freeport...
